Marsala…

The 2015 Pantone Color of the Year:  Masala! I confess, I love writing these color posts.  It is really fun and a good excuse to fall down the Pinterest rabbit hole all in the name of research!! Last week, Pantone released their Fall 2015 color report which I immediately downloaded and studied.  While that was fun, it was even more fun that evening to geek out with another fiber pal on the phone by discussing in detail our collective thoughts

Resting

Last week in a weekly email to one of our Journey to the Golden Fleece Groups, I wrote about being stuck.  I wrote about that to that group because many of them are approaching making their final project in the course.  It’s a time that lends itself to being stuck.  Ask me how I know? I’m sort of one of them…as I wrote to them, I had made a project with the yarns I created as we were writing the

A Very Special Module 8 Project

Wow, last week’s broadcast of the first round of graduation projects from the Journey to the Golden Fleece was so much fun!  I hope you have had a chance to check it out and/or to download the PDF which contains all the projects with the write ups from the artists. All the projects were fantastic and we decided that we will, from time to time, feature some of these awesome creations.  I’m going to kick this off with the cool

Our First Graduation Ceremony!

We had our first graduation ceremony for the participants in the Journey to the Golden Fleece last night and it was a so much fun! For those of us who could not join us for the live event, here is the recorded version. Here is the link to get the full PDF download of the portfolio of projects.  It includes a few last minute additions that we weren’t able to get into the live presentation on time so be sure

Live Graduation Event Details and Holiday Inspiration

Orange….

I think orange is a somewhat misunderstood color.  Maybe it was the ’70’s that gave it a bad name….and looking at the photo on the left…OK, I can see that. But, here’s the thing.  Orange is worthy of our respect.  It is one of the seven named colors of the spectrum.  Think about that…only seven colors made the cut and orange is one of them. Historically and culturally, orange has been very important in both Western and Asian colors.  It

Fibery Goodness Welcomes a Fiber Superhero, Jan Massie aka Spiderlady!

Big doings around here this week!  We have a new group setting sail on the Journey to the Golden Fleece and it’s always fun to embark and start getting to know everyone.  In the meantime, many folks in our first group are finishing up their final projects (see the Module 8 gallery) and the group that started last February are unbelievably very deep into their journeys as well. And, as many of you know, Suzy and I are working hard with

Spend Time with a Master!

I call her “The Master”…She’s like J-Lo, she can do it all…I’m talking about the wonderful Melissa Yoder Ricks of Wild Hare Fiber Studio. We are so very pleased to share that Melissa is going to be going us in November to lead three very special online spin sessions.  Melissa’s first session, on November 6th, 11 AM EST, is on her corespinning secrets — Ever wanted to spin a balanced core spun yarn?  Now is your chance to find out

Online Spinning Sessions with Natalie Redding of Namaste Farms!

When I woke up this morning, I could tell Suzy had been hard at work while I was sleeping.  There in my email were a big bunch of registrations for online spinning sessions.  It is always exciting to see people sign up for Fibery Goodness events, but this was especially exciting because the sign ups were for the special sessions that Natalie Redding of Namaste Farms is doing in October and November!

Spinning with European Fibery Goodness — Meet Silja Devine Holhjem of Kreativt Surrehue

Suzy and myself are incredibly blessed to know quite a few spinners from all over the globe.  Technology has truly changed things immensely!!  It’s incredible how online relationships can form over a shared passion such as hand spinning and then continue on into real friendships.  One such person who we are lucky to call a friend is Silja Devine Holhjem of Kreativt Surrehue from Norway.  But, Silja is not just a friend.  Silja is also a colleague who is one
